Survival Gear 101
If you’re ever stuck out in the wilderness you want to know that you’re prepared. You want to know that you have everything that you need to protect yourself and stay safe. But what kind of survival gear are you going to need? Well, the truth is there are a lot of things that you’ll probably want, but when it comes to the bare necessities, you can make do with a lot less.
Some of the most important things to have with you are a handheld radio, hiking watch and survival socks. Each of these things is going to help you communicate with someone else to get you help, keep track of your days and stay warm and dry. When you’re out in the wilderness for an unknown period of time, all of those things are going to be important to you.
Preparing for Anything
Of course, preparing for anything means that you’re going to want your backpack filled up with more than just these few items. There’s a whole lot that goes into preparing for a survivalist experience and if you’re heading out into the woods or the wilderness of any kind you should likely assume that it’s going to be this type of experience.
For those who find these excursions to be a whole lot of fun, you’re going to find it even better when you start learning how to really rely on yourself rather than a lot of store-bought gadgets. But just getting started it’s a good idea to have as much as you can to protect yourself and prepare for what could happen. You never know when one of those survival experiences could turn into the real thing.
Taking Matters into Your Own Hands
When something bad happens and you’re forced to take matters into your own hands and depend on yourself for survival you want to know you can. That’s where all of this training and all of your survival gear is going to come into play. And that’s where it’s going to be more important than ever that you know what you’re doing.
Being a survivalist could save your life someday, and it all starts with learning about the things you’re going to need early on. Having the right gear already prepared means that if something happens, you’re going to be ready at a moment’s notice. And you’re going to be more than happy with the supplies that you have.
Backpacking
When is the last time that you went backpacking? Maybe you’ve gone with friends before or maybe you’ve gone on your own. Maybe you’ve never been backpacking. No matter what your experience level, you can have a whole lot of fun with the experience. All you need is the right gear to get you started and that’s actually easier than you might think.
Water Filters
Backpacking water filters are going to be extremely important when it comes to your preparations. Because you’re going to be out for an extended period of time you’ll need a way to get plenty of water. A filter is the best way to do it and there are plenty of them out there that work in all different ways.
Backpack
You’ll want a backpack to carry all of your gear in. And you may want to take a closer look at cheap backpacking backpacks as well. That way, you can get started without quite the same investment. In fact, you’ll be able to get a cheap backpack and some of your other gear for the same price as an expensive bag.
Tools
You’ll want to take at least a few tools along with you when you’re heading into the wilderness. Generally, a rope, a knife and a first aid kit are going to be the basics that you want to have available. These will make sure that you’re prepared and that you can be better protected when it comes to venturing into the wilderness.
Food
Having food available is always a good idea. For a backpacking trip you want to have at least a few snacks available so that you can grab something if you get hungry. After all, you need something in case you get lost or are otherwise out longer than you planned. You’ll also need something if you end up expending a lot of energy or just because.
No matter what your experience with backpacking, being prepared is the most important thing that you can do. Make sure that you’re evaluating all of your gear and that you protect yourself from anything that might come your way. Backpacking can be a whole lot of fun. But if you don’t have the things you need you’re going to find it a whole lot harder than it needs to be. So, gather your food, your water filters, your tools and your backpack and get ready.
Bushcraft
When it comes to getting out into the wilderness there are a number of different ways that you can do it. But how do you make sure you’re doing it in a safe way? How do you make sure you’re fully prepared? Well, you’re going to want to get involved with Bushcraft and definitely the supplies it takes to help you along.
The most important thing is to make sure that you know what you’re doing and what you’re getting into. And an experienced Bushcrafter will be able to help you with that. Then, they can help you to get the supplies you need to get going for your first trip.
Bushcraft Clothing
There are all different types of clothing you’ll need if you’re going to get involved with Bushcraft. Pants, shirts, underclothes, socks and even jackets can be designed specifically for this type of outdoor activity. And the right gear is going to make it easier for you to protect yourself and survive.
Bushcraft Tools
Having the right tools is another important aspect. For example, you’ll need Bushcraft hatchets to help you cut through the brush and whatever else you might come across. You’re going to need other tools to help you with starting fires or getting clean water.
Bushcraft Backpack
You’re going to need something to carry all of your gear around in and a proper backpack is going to be an essential piece of that process. Make sure you get something that’s durable and the right balance between size and weight so you can carry it as long as you need to.
When it comes to choosing the right gear and making sure you’re prepared for Bushcraft you also want to make sure that you’re ready for what it’s really going to mean. After all, Bushcraft isn’t for everyone. You’re going to need to put some effort into it and you’re going to need to be willing to get out in the wilderness on your own.
Bushcraft is about learning how to take care of yourself in the wilderness. But it doesn’t just have to be about preparing for the worst. It can also be about just having some fun out in the wilderness. All you need to do is take a look around you and you’ll see plenty of things that you can do with Bushcraft knowledge. And you’ll see how it can be a whole lot of fun.
